ELAWe are currently learning about the Nez Perce Native American Tribes in order to prepare for our first novel Thunder Rolling in the Mountains. To prepare we are learning about their culture, lifestyle and homelands. The students are also learning how to write formal paragraphs to prepare for our first essay that will be completed at the end of the novel. Students have learned how to annotate as they read and interact with the text! All of these skills are vital to entering Junior High next year. MathThe class just received their first Mid Module test back and overall they did a great job! We will be continuing with the rest of Module 1 and will take the End of Module test end of September or early October. If students have questions please let me know and we can spend some time together before/after school if necessary. Social StudiesWe are continuing with Native Americans and will be covering this topic through Week 5 of our Studies Weekly magazines. After Week 5 the class will be assigned their Native American Tribe project where they will create their own tribes and materials. Information about the project will be discussed in class and brought home when it is assigned. I love this project because the students have enjoyed it in the past and it allows them to be creative! ReligionWe will be finished reading Wonder this week and a permission slip will be going home so students may enjoy the movie version. If the permission slip is not returned students may not watch the film with the rest of the class. ScienceWe are currently working on Living Systems!
