ELAWe are still making our way through the novel Thunder Rolling in the Mountains! We will be picking up the pace with reading in class and their will be some reading assignments in the coming weeks. The class has submitted their final drafts of their contrast paragraph after receiving comments from me. They are looking great! When we begin our first essay in November/December please make sure you are supporting your student and reading their essay to double check spelling, grammar and punctuation. It saves me HOURS! MathWe have begun Module 2 in math and the class is doing well. We are currently focusing on multiplication of whole numbers and will be moving on to division of whole numbers soon. Please make sure that your student is completing their Zearn and Homework assignments as they show me how the class as a whole is doing and indicated to me if we need to slow down or go back to take another look at a certain concept. Social StudiesWe are continuing with Native Americans and will be covering this topic through Week 5 of our Studies Weekly magazines. After Week 5 the class will be assigned their Native American Tribe project where they will create their own tribes and materials. Information about the project will be discussed in class and brought home when it is assigned. I love this project because the students have enjoyed it in the past and it allows them to be creative! The class is very excited to learn more about this project! ScienceI have finished grading the classes first science test and they will be getting them back on Friday. We are now moving on to plant systems looking at wheat plants, then animal systems, then systems of the human body. I will be taking pictures and updating my website so you can see all the fun!
